Discover the rustic secrets inside this rural log cabin where simplicity is key

At first glance, this may appear as a normal cabin in America; however, this one is a little different: it is located in Upper Hutt, on the North Island of New Zealand.
What does it have in common with our log cabins? Incredible surrounding nature. It offers quick access to Akatarawa Forest, Pakuratahi Forest, Kaitoke Regional Park, and Belmont Regional Park. All this and only 30 minutes from New Zealand's capital city, Wellington.

Moonshine Valley Eco Cabin is listed on Airbnb for vacation rental purposes, offering a simple studio floor plan which is decorated with a seamless mix of upcycled memorabilia and modern comfort. Shall we take a look around what the locals would refer to as a typical "bush hut?"
The simple floor plan offers everything you need for a stay in this gorgeous forest area, including comfortable furniture for relaxing on after a long day hiking through the landscapes of the country which brought us the Lord of the Rings.
The sleeping area is partitioned off by a simple screen. It includes an antique-style wrought iron bed with a queen-sized mattress and plenty of storage space for your personal items.
The cabin also includes a sofa bed, meaning a party of four adults could comfortably stay in this ample-sized vacation home.
The cabin is heated by an attractive vintage wood-burning stove which is more than adequate at providing a warm and cozy living space.
Amazingly, despite the small floor plan, the clever use of the space means the cabin has enough room to house a piano. For those who are not inclined towards music, a number of games are also available to keep you occupied.
Typical of a New Zealand "bush hut," the cabin has an outdoor bathroom. This simple wash space is covered and enclosed, giving you welcomed privacy.
While this may be a bit too rustic for some, the proverb "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" seems appropriate. This is not America!
The rear of the cabin has a spacious covered terrace which is accessed via sliding glass doors from the main living room.
The rear deck has comfortable seating and a barbecue grill. What a place to relax and enjoy the last few hours of the day.
The deck area is complete with an ecological cleaning station, ideal for washing up after a hearty meal.
At the bottom of the driveway, we find a peaceful firepit; great for sitting around at night and telling stories with friends, new or old!
