While we love aged, timeless log homes, there is something about exploring the world of modern wooden retreats which is very satisfying. Contemporary log home construction ties together the rustic theme with modern building techniques to offer wooden palaces with state-of-the-art design features.
The Kenney Project by StoneMill Log & Timber Homes is a great example of blending modern construction with rustic design. This large log home has three bedrooms and two-and-one-half bathrooms over 2,277 square feet of interior living space (211.5 square meters). It is a fantastic expression of the standards achieved in modern log homes, shall we take a look around?

The Kenney Project sits atop a hill, creating a sweeping panorama which encompasses 360 degrees. The seemingly endless views make this location perfect for a wooden retreat - nice!
The Kenney Project has porches and deck areas all around, making it easy to capture the perfect view from the perfect place.
The great room is a light and bright space, benefiting from these gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows. The room is furnished in a classical style, creating a timeless retreat which isn't anchored by fashion.
The great room is open to the dining room, however, despite the open concept this still feels like a separate area, with clever psychological boundaries which divide the floor plan.
The designated dining area is adjacent to the open kitchen, both benefiting from direct access to the deck area, for effortless outdoor dining.
The Kenney Project is clearly finished with high-end fixtures and fittings throughout. The kitchen is an absolute stunner, with gorgeous stainless steel appliances and cool rustic-chic cabinetry.
The master bedroom - located on the ground floor - is an elegant room which is very inviting. The polished hardwood floors are a delight while direct access to the porch means you can wake with the sights and smells of the countryside.
The master bathroom is attached to the bedroom and boasts beautiful fixtures and fittings, including this attractive vanity.
Two other bedrooms are located in the loft space.
Both are roomy enough to house robust furniture without dominating the space. I'd happily be a guest here - wow!
The upstairs level also includes a full bathroom.
The light from the great room windows brightens the loft and highlights the tones in the wood of the ceiling and beams.
The home includes a two-car garage.
Welcome to America!
The Kenney Project was based on the Elk River II floor plan, which can be explored further below.
