The kitchen is the jewel in the crown of this finely crafted log home

What is it we are looking for when we step through the front door of a log home? A house which showcases the best features of building with wood. We want to see a variety of tones in the wood which combine to create that rustic style which we adore yet maintains the functionality of a contemporary house.
This large log home was designed by esteemed builders, Meeker Log Homes. It is located in the quiet town of Tipton, CA, and acts as a perfect gateway to Yosemite National Park. Once you enter, we're sure you'll fall in love with this rustic-chic palace, just like we did. The quality of workmanship and use of high-quality wood is evident throughout. Shall we step inside and find out?

From the outside, the house has a commanding presence, with a windowed cathedral ceiling. It allows the floor plan to be lit with natural light while maintaining privacy from prying eyes.
As we go through the front doors, we are immediately met by an attractive combination of beams and posts.
The main living room has a soaring ceiling which is an intricate work of art. The lighter tones in the ceiling help to brighten the living space. Nice!
The sitting area is furnished with distressed brown leather sofas which look very inviting. The stone fireplace will provide a cozy space during the winter months, while the towering wall of windows benefits from a prow shape, giving panoramic views of the valley.
The main living area has a social open concept which incorporates the kitchen and the dining room.
The kitchen is finished with high-end stainless steel appliances and gorgeous counter tops.
The kitchen cabinetry has an eye-catching distressed look, giving the impression of an old-fashioned cabin. It contrasts very nicely with the lighter tones of the wood-paneled walls.
While the kitchen has a breakfast bar for casual meals, there is also a more formal dining set adjacent.
The dining room benefits from the light of two large windows, one of which opens out onto the spacious deck - perfect for outdoors dining.
The master bedroom, located upstairs, is finished with whitewashed walls to create a softer, more relaxing tone; however, the room maintains the ever-present wood finishes.
The master bedroom is furnished with rugged pieces which complement the room very well. The room also benefits from a stone fireplace. Cozy!
Floor-to-ceiling windows create stunning views of the valley, while direct access to the private terrace makes an idyllic place to peacefully enjoy the scenery.
The master bathroom is finished with attractive cabinetry, similar to what we saw in the kitchen. The use of slate tiles works very well for the bath surround. Oh, and what a view!
The huge deck at the rear of the house could fit an entire outdoors sitting area.
