Discover a spacious log home: Its unique window scheme perfects the natural light

The Nicolet floor plan by Wisconsin Log Homes is a great example of a modern cabin. Featuring the elements which whet the appetite of log home aficionados, this spacious retreat has 1,909 square feet (177.4 square meters) of living space, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large welcoming porch, and a unique window scheme.
Approaching the cabin, my first impressions are very strong. I really like the lighter toned wood used in the construction; it makes the home warm and welcoming, unlike some other darker, dingier cabins. It's not uncommon for a log home to have a wall of windows in the great room, but this one feels a little bit different. Let's step inside and find out why.

The unassuming entry porch is simple, with a large dormer. It creates a high level of privacy as opposed to some of the wide-open glass and wood constructions.
Inside the house, we find a stunning great room which encompasses the living area, the kitchen, and the dining set. The gorgeous cathedral ceiling has an attractive stain which highlights the rich tones in the wood. The loft space houses the master bedroom and master bathroom.
The living room is heated by a welcoming stone fireplace. I could easily imagine myself sinking into that couch at night. The soaring windows inject a welcome spray of natural light into the home, however, the solid log surround maintains a certain sense of privacy.
Taking a look from outside, you can see how the house doesn't appear overly exposed despite the large windows. They get the balance just right.
The great room has access to the expansive deck area via sliding glass doors. The sweeping porch covers two sides of the house, with plenty of room for loungers and a dining set. Whilst I love hiking and cycling, sometimes I just want to relax on the terrace and punctuate my day with food and naps!
Just look at how the natural light brightens the kitchen and dining area - lovely. You will always find me in the kitchen at parties, and this open social space is a host's dream!
